TEAM LEADER TRAINING EVENTS IN THE PNW CONFERENCE; HAITI TEAMS BEING FORMED IN PNW CONFERENCE; INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER TRAINING

TRAINING EVENTS IN THE PNW CONFERENCE

There are three Volunteer in Missions Team Leader Trainings being held this winter. These are 6 hour classes (9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) with lunch served. The training includes: an Overview of UMVIM and how connections are made; what an UMVIM team is and the responsibilities of the team leader; how to plan a trip, and how to put together a team (team orientation and paperwork). The Team Leader Training Manual has been updated so if you took the training several years ago, you might find this helpful. Other new elements include safe sanctuary for teams, team spirituality, and cultural awareness.

Trainings scheduled to date are:

January 29, 2010 at Manito UMC in Spokane
February 12, 2010 at First UMC Vancouver
February 19, 2010 at Bothell UMC in Seattle.
All trainings will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost will be $10 for the training materials.

Early Response Disaster Training (ERT):

On February 12, 2010, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. there will be an Early Response Disaster Training for those who are interested in serving in local disasters in the clean up phase of the disaster. HAITI TEAM BEING FORMED IN PNW CONFERENCE

The first PNW Team to Haiti will be a joint team with Oregon-Idaho Conference and leaves January 31st. Two other teams (Vashon UMC and Marysville UMC) will serve in Haiti at the end of February.

Future teams are looking for more members and other teams are being formed for 2012. Genie Fairhart (Snoqualmie UMC) is the Team Leader for the April 2011Team and David Zaske (Federal Way UMC) is the Team Leader for an October 2011Team.
